Have you seen "Mountain Man" on Discovery?
The cool Kodiak bear hunter, Mike Horstman, saw this knife in Dortmund and loved it, so now he has this knife, we have continued contact as we got along really well., he has a planned wild boar hunt in Germany and hopes to get use to his new knife then!
A hunting knife designed by hunters for hunters.
No monster blades or expensive steel, just GOOD steel and a decent blade is enough.
No unnecessary nonsense that is not needed/fulfills a function.
(Yes, an unnecessarily beautiful handle perhaps.)
A hunting knife is to be used, so we have chosen the very rust-resistant and extremely hard steel D2, also called tool steel. It is called that because cutting tools for industry etc. are made from it.
With this knife you can make all skin cuts, you can remove, skin and take care of both moose and wild boar, but also deer, etc. of course.

What does an ultimate hunting knife look like?
-It's like asking how long a string is, there is no "correct" answer.
But this knife is my answer to that question.

But, what do we as hunters need in a knife?
A sharp blade is a good start.
A comfortable handle.
A safe design with parry protection.
Preferably full/full tongue (the steel goes through the entire handle, either visible all the way = full tongue, or hidden in the handle, full tongue.
The design of the edge on our knife is inspired by small Swedish hunting knives, a model from an American manufacturer that I personally use (used) frequently.
The blade is relatively small/short, to be honest a hunter doesn't need a longer blade than this, 60mm, it makes it smooth, easy to handle and you can easily cut inside the animal when you remove it, the shape of the edge is designed to be good for skinning work. The back of the knife is designed to be able to hold a finger on the "back" when you open the animal.
Leather sheath that you attach so the knife is carried ALONG the belt and thus not in the way!
